Meet Jay.png

Jay Dean learned strong conservative values growing up and never stopped living them.

As a church altar boy with two paper routes and a lawn mowing business, Jay learned to love God, work hard, and save what you earn. When he grew up, those values led him to start multiple successful businesses here in East Texas.

Jay is now the General Manager of Thomas Oilfield Services, after previously serving as the founder and CEO of Shale Flow Specialties, a company that serviced and maintained oil rigs across the country to keep them running safely and efficiently. A longtime veteran of the oil and gas industry, Jay has seen how it can be leveraged to create jobs and promote prosperity. In the Legislature, Jay has worked to allow our state’s energy sector to reach its full potential, by fighting to cut red tape and protect the free market.

Before the State House, under Jay’s leadership as mayor, Longview was ranked one of the top ten cities in the nation for economic growth and was named one of the “Best Places for Business" by Forbes Magazine. Jay has taken this record of success from Longview to represent East Texas well in the State House.

Since 2017, Jay has proudly served Texas House District 7, which now includes Gregg, Harrison, and Marion Counties. As our State Representative, Jay has made East Texas proud as a staunch supporter of our rural values and conservative priorities.

  • Balanced the State Budget

  • Cut $18 billion in Property Taxes

  • Strong supporter of Public Education and School Safety

  • Banned Sanctuary Cities and sent $5 billion to Border Security

  • Upheld 2nd Amendment

  • Banned partial-birth abortion and passed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, The Heartbeat Act, and supported reversal of Roe v Wade

  • Protected Religious Freedom

  • Voted to outlaw State Income Tax

Jay shares the values of East Texas and will continue to get results for conservatives in our state and the next generation. He was recognized as a 2017, 2021, and 2023 Effective Conservative from the Conservative Roundtable of Texas and has previously been endorsed by Governor Greg Abbott, the NRA, the Texas State Rifle Association, Texas Alliance for Life, and Texas Right to Life.

He currently serves on the House Committees on State Affairs, Environmental Regulation, and Local & Consent Calendars. Jay’s expertise in the energy sector has been recognized with key appointments. He was appointed to represent Texas on the Center for Legislative Energy and Environmental Research, a multi-state energy policy council. He was also appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Texas Backup Power Package Advisory Committee, which is tasked with ensuring critical infrastructure like water treatment plants and hospitals maintain power supply during blackout events.

Jay and his wife, Pokie, live in Longview where they raised their three daughters and helped found their church, St. Matthew’s. They are also the proud grandparents to 8 grandchildren.
